Unfortunately, some of the websites did not meet the standards defined in the rubric.
During the current judging cycle, we found many of the local firm’s self-promotion websites had their ranking lowered due to one or more of the following:
- Web standards not being followed, e.g., no link to Home, atypical navigation, missing footers, etc.
- Typographical rules and standards not being followed.
- Lack of Informational Hierarchy.
- Lack of standard linking to Adobe or other products needed to support the website.
- Poor (or non-existant) degradation of the website.
- Flash websites that do not load without javascript enabled.
- Improper Flash detection.
- Outdated or depreciated techniques / technology.
- Table-based layouts.
- Canned-looking and/or Template-looking design.
- Lack of User Centered Interface Design (UCID) principles.
- Heavy use of stock photography.
- Websites with bugs.
- Misleading (or non-existant) error messaging.
- Typographical errors and dead-links.
